Mahitahi Hauora PHE - Kaiarahi Tiakina te Kaitiaki

We are looking for someone who is whanau and community focussed, has a desire to work in and support the health care of our whanau, and to assist with ensuring whanau voice is heard.  This role will work across Northland to assist with implementing changes or building on already established effective models to improve health outcomes for our Northland population.    The Kaiarahi will holistically provide support to those referred into the Tiakina Te Kaitiaki (TTK) service to build and strengthen community relationships and carer and whanau resilience.  The role will work alongside the Tiakina Te Kaitiaki nurses to support the implementation of the care plan and priorities.

The Position

We are looking for someone who has strengths in the following:

  • Previous knowledge or desire to gain skill in motivational interviewing, health coaching or similar
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Northland communities and services
  • A confident communicator with excellent spoken and written English
  • Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with people from all backgrounds
  • Willingness to work appropriately with Maori or bicultural organisations 

To be considered for this position you ideally will have:

  • Previous knowledge or desire to gain skill in motivational interviewing, health coaching or similar
  • A good level and understanding of English
  • Proficient Computer literacy skills, e.g. Microsoft Office programmes
  • Current and Un-encumbered Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrable experience in engaging with community and growing collaborative support
  • Proven interpersonal skills in developing relationships

You must have a current NZ work visa and the legal right to work in NZ.
